We will survive

This next poem is another poem I sent to my son whilst he was in a young offenders institution. The words are straight from my heart, and I meant every single word!
After what seemed like an eternity, he started to listen and things began to change.....

We will survive.

I pray I have made a breakthrough,

With the words that I express.

Before, you just ignored them,

And you could not have cared less.

 

But hope lingers on the horizon.

A new light is becoming clear,

At the end of your dark tunnel.

Hungry to absorb your fears.

 

The world you are in scares me.

It keeps me awake at night.

But out of the fear projected,

Conjures up my need to fight.

 

To fight for your wellbeing,

And to make you whole again.

To rub shoulders with your monsters,

Beside you I will remain.

 

My strength inside is greater,

To combat the evil that flows,

Through your body that it so craves for

Its pathway there we will close.

 

Together united we will conquer.

We will stick together like glue.

Always remember you do not need it.

It is in need of you!

 

You are the one with the power

To put this evil to sleep.

Your strength breeds my faith in you

So don’t be scared to leap.

 

Leap back on to that road

And I promise I’ll show you the way.

I will guide you in the right direction.

And on that right track you will stay.
